Fishing at Kepulauan Seribu (North of Jakarta)

Have you ever been fishing to Kepulauan Seribu? (The islands north of Jakarta, Indonesia). Even it’s not as challenging as fishing in South of Java, or Bali, but since it is not so far from Jakarta is valuable to come and see.
The most exciting was fishing by casting trick using popper bait, or Jigging to catch the deep sea fish using tin jig bait.
The locations which are good for casting-fishing are near to corral or rocky island. Usually we can catch fish likes: Blue Trevally, Yellow fin Tuna, Wahoo, Spanish mackerel, Rainbow-Runner, Mackerel Tuna, Giant Trevally, Dogtooth Tuna, .Barracuda, even sometimes we can catch Marlin!
And good locations for Jigging are at the location where the deep rocky laid or where the rumpon (man made home base for fish) placed. From the deep sea we can catch Grouper (Kerapu), Snapper (Kakap), Amberjack etc,

There are some tips for low cost fishing trip to Kepulauan Seribu:
1. Do not rent a fishing boat from Jakarta; it would be expensive, especially from Marina Jaya Ancol! Rent the fisherman own boat at an island of Kepulauan Seribu!.
2. Take a trip to the islands by Trans Jakarta ferry ship from Marina Jaya Ancol. The Department of Transportation own ship. The fare is relatively cheap, it’s about Rp. 40,000. Per passenger. The ship goes round the islands and land in some big island such as Kelapa island, Putri island etc, Suggested do not land in the tourist island (Putri island, Bidadari island etc.) but land in the native island such as Pramuka island, and Kelapa island.
3. Rent a boat from native fisherman of the island for fishing! The cost was about less then a half of rental cost of the boat from fisherman of North Jakarta. Yes, the boat is not a fiberglass type, but fishing on a traditional wooden boat was also exiting. Much cheaper, so we can save the money to stay longer in the sea. Remember there is no ATM in the sea.
Have a nice fishing trip.
